Why Gymnastics?

Gymnastics improves balance.
We work on balance during our balance beam rotation during class.  This helps with other sports.

Gymnastics builds confidence and self worth.
We strive to be positive at all times with your child.  We believe this helps them to build confidence in what they are doing and who they are.

Gymnastics helps children learn goal setting.
It is important to learn to set goals and learn how to attain them.  During class we will work on skills and help the children to set goals and work to achieve them.  We also do evaluations once per term that helps them to know how they are doing.

Gymnastics improves upper body strength.
Upper body strength helps with all sports:  Batting in Baseball/Softball, Goal keeping in Soccer, a Golf swing,  Playing Tennis, Swimming, etc.  Building upper body strength is no longer a major focus of the physical education programs in the United States, so we feel that it is important to teach the gymnasts.

Gymnastics improves social skills.
During class, the children get to socialize with one another and with their teacher.  They learn how to take turns, follow directions, walk in a line, as well as lots of fun tumbling and other gymnastics skills.

Gymnastics grows your brain.
The vestibular mechanism is located in the ear canal.  This mechanism is responsible for balance.  During gym class a myriad of opportunities exist for honing the skill of balance.  When the vestibular mechanism of the brain is stimulated through gym class activities, it in turn stimulates other areas of the brain to grow, such as the ocular area of the brain.

Gymnastics promotes reading readiness.
Gymnastics helps kids to get ready to read.  Studies have shown a direct correlation between physical movement and reading readiness.  Gymnastics students experience numerous movement patterns during class which enhance memory development and vocabulary.

Gymnastics improves safety awareness.
We stress safety and feel that it helps the children to know when it is safe to do something and when it is unsafe.  This will help them in all areas of their life.

No, we do not offer make ups.

· How fast should I expect my child to move up?
All children progress at different rates.  The average time that a student remains in one level is one year.  We, as coaches, try to recognize each child’s skill level and give them appropriate challenges.  If you feel that your child isn’t progressing quickly enough, he/she can attend two classes per week or join the PK Team.
