We understand that participation and advancement through Triad’s team program requires a large time, emotional and financial commitment, and this may not be an appropriate program for every child. However, for those children wishing to pursue gymnastics at a competitive level and realize their full potential in this wonderful sport, we feel we offer the most complete program in the state of Iowa.
Our mission, which we take very seriously, is to have an important positive impact on your child’s future. We are not only committed to helping each child become the best gymnast she can possibly be, but also to help her become a happy, healthy and responsible person.
Team Overview
Triad’s J.O. Team Gymnasts participate in the Junior Olympic Program, which was developed by USA Gymnastics, the governing body for gymnastics in the United States. This program consists of 10 levels of progressive gymnastics skills and routines for girls. Female gymnasts compete on 4 events. These events (in Olympic Order) are: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.
Our XCEL Program, also developed by the USAG Organization, currently consists of 3 optional levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Our female gymnasts compete on 4 events with choreographed routines specific to our team. These routines are designed by our own coaches and meet the difficulty criteria required in each level.
Competitive Teams
(Compulsory and Optional)
Triad’s competitive team consists of levels 4-10 and an Xcel program (levels Bronze, Silver and Gold). These athletes train 11-25 hours per week and compete at several competitions per year. Our goal for competitive athletes is to help them go as far in gymnastics as their ability and desire will take them. Our team coaches will place gymnasts at the level where they can be happy, safe and confident. This means every gymnast must be able to perform the skills and routines required at a given level comfortably. The skills should not be at the edge of or beyond her ability level. We can never ask or expect our athletes to perform skills or routines in a competition which they cannot perform consistently in practice. Therefore, our gymnasts will compete at about 75-80% of their current skill level.

Junior Team
Our Junior Team (ages 4-8) consists of ‘Hot Shots’ and ‘Pre-Team’. The ‘Pre-Team’ gymnasts practice 4-6 hours per week. Hot Shots are our youngest team members. These gymnasts have demonstrated above average gymnastics ability and desire. The main goal of the Hot Shots program is to establish a rock solid foundation for gymnastics development. The purpose of Triad’s Pre-team program is to expand upon the base which was established in Hot Shots by introducing skill development on all of the Olympic events plus dance and trampoline.
